Public Utility Regulatory Framework Being Improved


Chaired by the Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, the Economic Sphere’s Regulatory Reform Council held a meeting in the Office of Government.

Armen Yeghiazaryan, Acting Director of the National Center for Legislative Regulation PIU at the Government Staff of the Republic of Armenia presented a package of proposals for the public utilities sphere - related to telecommunications and energy sectors.

The proposals are aimed at the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) - regulated licensing process, electricity connection deadlines, simplification and reduction in number of PSRC rulings and other decisions.

The legislative package has been designed taking into account the international experience. Upon passing of the package, a series of legal acts will either be improved or recognized invalid.
